Good morning and happy Monday! I hope your weekend was as relaxing as mine 🙂 It was the start of my spring break, and if you read my last post you’d know that my mom and I are having a fun weekend full of rest and relaxation. On Saturday, she got to go to her first Lightning game, which had plenty of fights and even went into penalty shootouts! She was having the time of her life while I was on the edge of my seat praying for the Lightning to win…and they did 🙂 We polished the night off with church and a nice dinner.
On Sunday, we came down to Sarasota for a few days, and I can’t express to you how blessed I am. It was a beautiful day and the perfect temperature. We are staying in a gorgeous hotel room overlooking the bay. I even got her to walk from the hotel to St. Armand’s Circle, which was about a 3-mile walk! She was a little hesitant at first, but I think the stunning bay views and heart-felt conversations we had made it completely worth it…not to mention the amazing dinner we had at the Tommy Bahama Restaurant. We split some of the best coconut shrimp and both had delicious filet mignons that we polished off with Ben & Jerry’s for dessert. Is it bad that I’m still hungry?
I can honestly tell you that I can’t remember the last time I was this relaxed. I didn’t realize how stressed and wound up school had me until I was sitting at dinner, and the only thing on my mind was how free I felt. There’s this massive weight lifted off my shoulders…I kid you not when I say I feel like a new person 🙂
It’s funny how the feeling of stress can become a normal part of your day to the point where you don’t really notice it anymore. It’s pretty sad actually. So, I decided I’m taking the week to enjoy life, myself, and my family because I need it. I am important, and I deserve to take time for myself! The same goes for you. Don’t let stress become a chronic part of your day. Treat yourself. Even just 15 minutes a day can make a world of difference.
Tomorrow, my mom and I are going to get massages and go wherever the wind takes us. We have no agenda, no plan, and no worries. Tuesday, we are off to Orlando for dinner with my sister before heading back to Melbourne. Friday, I’ll head back to Tampa for research before school starts again.
